This was revealed during a meeting to discuss the Development Plan for Mini-Hydro Power Plant (PLTM) and Solar Power Plant (PLTS) Projects through an Investment Scheme and Site Survey at the Margatiga Dam and Way Sekampung Dam, led by the Assistant for Economy and Development of Lampung Province, Dr. Ir. Mulyadi Irsan, ST, MT, and attended by Bakrie Power and Hello Synar Energi.
At the discussion meeting, the Lampung Province ESDM Office was represented by the Head of the Electricity Division, Dwi Aprilia Lestari SH, MH. During the meeting, the Head of the Electricity Division explained that hydroelectric power plants are highly dependent on the potential for continuous water flow and head/waterfall height.
Meanwhile, for the potential of solar power plants, PLN and the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, through the 2025-2034 Electricity Supply Business Plan (RUPTL) document, have already inventoried the potential for solar power plants.
For the Margatiga Dam, which is currently under construction, with a dam area of 2,314 hectares, it is estimated to have a solar power generation potential of 462.79 megawatts.
Meanwhile, the Way Sekampung Dam, whose construction has been completed, with a dam area of 825 hectares, is estimated to have a solar power generation potential of 165 megawatts.
It is hoped that the planned construction of floating hydroelectric power plants and solar power plants will further strengthen the electricity system in Lampung Province to support the President's vision.
